Bomber 'wanted to damage' NYC with Time Square attack

An explosion was reported at Port Authority in New York City on Dec. 11 2017

Four people were injured Monday in the blast that rocked a subway station in the heart of Manhattan, firefighters said, but none of those injuries was life-threatening.

The explosion at 7:30 a.m. closed the nation's busiest bus station, eight underground train lines and all the streets around Times Square.

Some news outlets reported that the explosion could possibly have been a pipe bomb, and the New York Post reports that the explosion was caused by suicide bomber, who detonated the device in the passageway to the N, Q, R trains. The device that was affixed to his body with Velcro and zip ties, NYPD deputy commissioner John Miler said.

Conte: Bull**** To Think Chelsea Can Catch City
We must be very, very, very happy whether they play or not play. "Their potential is more than this", he said. In the last few days he was out to work in the pool.

"As taxi and for-hire vehicle drivers are independent contractors and not employees, I have no way of knowing whether he drove for any particular base, or whether he simply got the license but didn't drive at all", Fromberg said.

Mr Ullah said the planned attack had been motivated by U.S. air strikes on IS targets in Syria and elsewhere, the New York Times reports. "The officers at that point had to make a decision so no one else would be hurt and they decided at that point to take the person into custody", Egbert told CBS Radio's 1010 WINS.

CNN reports that Ullah told investigators that he carried out the attack in response to Israeli actions in the Gaza strip.

USA media is reporting that the suspect told investigators that he was avenging attacks on the so-called Islamic State group and chose the location by its Christmas posters.

Are there other threats to NYC at this time?

"The right cops were in the right place this morning", Port Authority Patrolman Benevolent Association President Paul Nunziato said.

The peak hour explosion plunged Manhattan's traffic into gridlock, with multiple streets in mid-town NY closed. "Thank god our first responders were there so quickly to address the situation and make sure people are safe".

The man who faces terror charges over Monday's bus terminal bombing in NY posted a warning to US President Donald Trump just before the attack.

The Port Authority Bus Terminal, which bills itself as the world's busiest bus terminal, is not far from Times Square. Service will resume. Let's go back to work. She said, "All we could hear was the chaos".
