The iris camera lens will be improved to 3 megapixels from 2 megapixels of Galaxy S8 and Galaxy Note 8 to capture clearer images.

Until now we saw the sensor being placed besides the rear cameras, with the Galaxy S and Note series.

Android Oreo comes with numerous enhancements over Android Nougat, such as faster booting, extending of battery life by cutting down on unnecessary activities of apps in the background, more fluid experiences to phones and tablets as well as improvements in security via Google Play Protect, which check suspicious activities and malware.

To recap, Samsung first introduced the iris scanner in the ill-fated Galaxy Note 7.

According to the Korea Herald, a source close to the company claimed Samsung is working on a new Iris Scanner.

Despite Samsung's claim, it can be noted that several reports surfaced this year to prove that the Galaxy phone's advanced biometric feature can easily be fooled by photos and contact lenses.

Aside from solely bumping the resolution, Samsung is also tipped for developing new software to go along with the better hardware and further improve the iris recognition rate. The fingerprint reader is centered under the single camera.

A dual-SIM means you can put two SIM cards in your phone, which could be handy if you want one for work and one for personal use for example, or if you regularly travel between two different countries, so you can have a local SIM card for each.

Finally, The Korea Herald's report notes that some consumers are still concerned about the integrity of biometrics.

Currently, fingerprint and iris scanning are the only biometric methods Samsung deems secure enough to use as authentication for Samsung Pay (sorry, facial recognition).
