Morgan Spurlock on sexual harassment: 'I am part of the problem'

In a tweet on Wednesday, the Super Size Me star admitted to having been accused of rape, among other sexual offenses.

Spurlock's publicist confirmed the authenticity of the post to CNN.

He also talks about being accused of date rape in college, an encounter he thought was consensual.

He adds he only learned about the rape accusation from a friend who was in a writing class with the woman.

Regardless, Spurlock said he was determined to rectify his behavior. In his account, he said they "started having sex" although she had pushed him off while "fooling around" and saying she did not want to.

"He continues, "'Light bright. I was floored. 'That's not what happened!' I told her. "I believed she was feeling better". He's now stepping down from the company, hours after he penned a confessional essay in which he revealed that a woman he slept with in college "believed she was raped" and that he now sees himself as "part of the problem". Or that she believed he never respected her, so that disrespect carried over into their son?

Spurlock said he settled a sexual harassment allegation at his office eight years ago.

The plant at Baumgarten is one of Europe's key gas distribution points and as a result deliveries were quickly thought be in danger.

"I would call my female assistant "hot pants" or "sex pants" when I was yelling to her from the other side of the office", he said.

When the female employee departed the production company, she threatened to expose Spurlock's misconduct if he refused to pay her a settlement. "Most of all, I paid so I could remain who I was", Spurlock wrote. I paid for her silence and cooperation. At the time he was married to Alex Jamieson, a chef who appeared with her thenboyfriend in Super Size Me and whom he went on to marry in 2006.

"I can't blindly act as though I didn't somehow play a part in this", he continued, "And if I'm going [to] truly represent myself as someone who has built a career on finding the truth, then it's time for me to be truthful as well".

"I've come to understand after months of these revelations, that I am not some innocent bystander, I am also a part of the problem", he wrote, referencing the recent wave of sexual misconduct allegations against prominent men. Spurlock also has a forthcoming docu-series titled " Cultureshock" on A&E, set to premiere in 2018. Of course, it is no coincidence that he made a decision to reveal his past misconduct now, in the post-Weinstein reckoning that has seen numerous high-profile men face accusations of sexual harassment and assault.

Wait. This girl wrote a short story about that night, even naming Spurlock, but didn't bother to go to the police? A spokesperson for Weinstein released a statement denying many of her claims. "I've been unfaithful to every wife and girlfriend I have ever had", he writes in this week's post.

"None of these things matter when you chip away at someone and consistently make them feel like less of a person", he said.

On Twitter, he confirms that he is seeking help and will do everything in his power to learn from his past mistakes.
