S.Africa's Ramaphosa gets most nominations ahead of ANC leadership vote

Those supporting the campaigns of Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa and Mathews Phosa for the ANC presidency said they were planning to approach the court to nullify the results of Friday's provincial general council.

With 391 nominations, the ANC in Limpopo have chosen as Cyril Ramaphosa as their preferred presidential candidate.

In an unsurprising move, the majority of KwaZulu-Natal branches of the ANC nominated Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma as their preferred candidate to lead the party. But it is speculated that Dlamini Zuma might emerge victorious since she enjoys support of biggest provinces Mpumalanga, KwaZulu-Natal, and ANC Youth League and ANC Women's League.

The deputy president already secured nominations from the Western Cape, Northern Cape and Eastern Cape, while the Free State and North West back Dlamini-Zuma.

Under the stewardship of chairman Sihle Zikalala, the province has not been shy in voicing its support for Dlamini-Zuma.

Each of the league will send 60 delegates to the conference.

Max hospital row: Two doctors who declared premature baby dead terminated
Cops are also probing Ashish's allegation that the hospital had asked them to pay Rs 50 lakh for keeping the baby in its nursery. The family observed slight movement in the polythene bag while they were on their way to perform the last rites.

Some of her supporters showed their disappointment at the outcome of the branch nominations, by disrupting an address by Limpopo chairperson and Premier Stan Mathabatha who is a known Ramaphosa supporter.

How does voting work at the ANC conference?

"You have to understand, this is KZN and we are ANC for Nkosazana all the way".

For the position of national chairperson, Arts and Culture Minister Nathi Mthethwa took 358 nominations, while secretary general Gwede Mantashe took 190. "Because it means the dispute process is done as a formality".

Sello Shai, who coordinates Ramaphosa's campaign in the province, said: "Unity cannot be sustained chief, unity was just used to sway branches that wanted Ramaphosa from achieving their will".

"Mabuza and the PEC misled branches and we want the PEC to be disbanded".
