Texas A&M DL Zaycoven Henderson arrested for aggravated assault

Per the Dallas Morning News, Henderson tried throwing the gun out of the vehicle after the reported incident had occurred.

Two men were taken into custody Sunday after witnesses say they were pointing riffles at apartments on Harvey Mitchell Parkway in College Station.

According to the KBTX in Texas, Texas A&M defensive lineman Zaycoven Henderson is facing multiple felony charges after being arrested on Sunday morning. "Officers also learned the rifle had been discarded by the passenger in a nearby wooded area in an attempt to hide the firearm". The firearm matched the exact description given by the victims, KXXV reported.

A Texas A&M spokesperson announced that Henderson has been suspended indefinitely, according to Brent Zwerneman of the Houston Chronicle.

Police discovered the rifle that had been discarded in a a wooded area, with the victims identifying Henderson as the assailant and the retrieved weapon as the one wielded by the football player. Tampering with evidence, a third-degree felony, could result in up to 10 years in prison and a fine not to exceed $10,000. The pair were then booked into the Brazos County Jail.

Henderson and one other person, Terry Lechler Florez Jr., were arrested at the scene.

Henderson appeared in 12 games for the Aggies, recording 35 tackles (five for a loss) and 2.5 sacks this season.

Just a few hours earlier, Henderson was honored at the A&M team football banquet.

The Aggies will face Wake Forest in the Belk Bowl on December 29.
