At a news conference on Saturday afternoon, Federal Bureau of Investigation agents and area sheriff's departments confirmed that 3-year-old Mariah Woods has died and that Earl Kimrey was arrested in connection with the girl's death. "We were all hoping for a better outcome".

Investigators haven't revealed exactly what they believe happened to Mariah or what evidence led to Kimrey's arrest, but some have been suspicious of Mariah's mother and her boyfriend since the very beginning.

Kimrey's bond remains at $1 million, according to CBS.

"The focus of this investigation has changed from a missing child to a homicide case", the agent told reporters, adding that any homeowners with surveillance cameras near the Woods home should share their video with authorities. According to the Department of Public Safety's website, he's been convicted of larceny twice, assault on a government official, and drunk and disorderly conduct.

Kimrey, 32, is also charged with obstruction of justice, second-degree burglary, felony larceny and possession of stolen property. "The defendant acted with deceit and intent to defraud".
