1 winning ticket sold in $450 million Mega Millions drawing

Powerball reaching historic highs

US lottery players will get another shot at becoming super rich on Saturday night, when numbers are drawn for the Powerball jackpot of an estimated $570 million, the fifth largest in the game's history.

The numbers drawn were 28, 30, 39, 59, 70 and 10.

The jackpot victor will receive an estimated prize of $450 million ($281 million cash). The jackpot has been rolling since October, when the last jackpot of $42 million was won by players in MI and Rhode Island, according to Mega Millions. The retailer will receive a $100,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket. More than 21 million tickets were sold for all the prizes.

Those who missed out will have the chance to cash in with an event bigger prize, as the Powerball jackpot rose to $570 million. That drawing is Saturday night.

Mega Millions lottery tickets rest on a counter at a Pilot travel center near Burlington, N.C.

That would be the fifth-largest jackpot in that game's history.

The Florida Power Ball, which is up to $570 million, will be drawn on Saturday evening. A day earlier, no one had matched all six numbers in a Mega Millions drawing, lottery officials said.

Both games are played in 44 states, the District of Columbia, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

The average American spends about $200 a year on lottery tickets, although residents of some states spend far more.

The chances of holding a Mega Millions ticket with the winning numbers are about 1 in 302.6 million, while the odds of winning Powerball's jackpot stand at 1 in 292.2 million. Powerball adds Puerto Rico.
