African Union, Others Respond To Alleged 'Shithole Countries' Comment

The Entertainment Software Association (ESA) has issued a statement regarding President Donald Trump's recently reported comments allegedly regarding immigrants from countries like Haiti and El Salvador.

Trump suggested the United States should instead focus its immigrant entry policy on countries such as Norway.

The document stressed that Cuba joins the strong rejection that these statements have arouse around the world, and expresses its most heartfelt solidarity with all the offended countries.

Trump criticised immigration to his country from El Salvador, Haiti and the African continent, by calling the group "shithole countries" at a meeting with Congress members at the White House on Thursday, according to U.S. media.

The comment degraded immigrants from Haiti and other African countries.

Farris Jr. said that the comments were "another example of him (Trump) speaking without knowing the facts".

His comments sparked widespread condemnation yesterday both within the U.S. and worldwide.

On Friday, Mr Trump on Friday tweeted that his language he used at the private meeting with lawmakers to discuss immigration legislation had been "tough".

"Like all Americans who embrace decency and the values of diversity and inclusion, and who celebrate what made America great in the first place, I'm appalled by these latest comments of President Donald Trump regarding Haitians and people of African nations", Pugh said in a statement.

"Given the historical reality of how African Americans arrived in the United States as slaves, and the United States being the biggest example of how a nation has been built by migration - for a statement like that to come is particularly upsetting", AU spokeswoman Ebba Kalondo said.

Trump took to twitter saying in part, "the language used by me at the DACA meeting was tough but this was not the language used".

A New York Times report in December recounted a meeting in the Oval Office at which Trump railed against the recipients of us visas in 2017.

"I can not believe that in the history of the White House, in the Oval Office, any president has ever spoken words that I personally heard our president speak yesterday", Durbin told reporters. He's said to have questioned why the USA would accept more immigrants from Haiti and "s--hole countries" in Africa. "I've never seen a statement like this by African countries directed at the United States".

The UN Office of the High Commissioner on Human Rights (OHCHR) has denounced President Trump's remarks as "shocking and shameful", and "racist".

"We have been working for four months and have reached an agreement in principle" that addresses the main policies Trump sought, they said.
