Autopsy Shows Roy Halladay Had Morphine In System At Time Of Death

The autopsy also showed Halladay had amphetamine and a drug used to treat insomnia in his system at the time of the crash in November. Halladay's blood alcohol content, according to the autopsy, was 0.01.

An autopsy report is revealing more details about the cause of Roy Halladay's death.

Dr. Bruce Goldberger, a pathologist and director of the University of Florida's Health Forensic Medicine center, said the drugs found in Halladay's system were a concern, the Times reported.

Halladay, an All-Star with the Toronto Blue Jays and Philadelphia Phillies, was 40 years old. Halladay's blood tested positive for 72 ng/ml.

Halladay was killed in Holiday in November of previous year.

Whether Halladay had prescriptions for these drugs is something we don't know.

Halladay spent four seasons with the Phillies, winning the NL Cy Young Award in 2010. He pitched in the major leagues for 16 years, and retired following the 2013 season. Among his achievements the year were a flawless game against the Florida Marlins on May 29, and a no-hitter against the Cincinnati Reds on October 6 in Game 1 of the National League Division Series.

A preliminary report released two weeks after the crash by the National Transportation Safety Board said Halladay was flying his ICON A5 plane at 105 miles per hour while skimming the Gulf of Mexico at just 11 feet before climbing 100 feet in the air.
