Browns swipe Eliot Wolf from Packers front office

FOX Sports Wisconsin looks back at the 2017 NFL season and distributes awards to the top players and moments for the Green Bay Packers

Wolf is the second Packers executive Dorsey has hired since he became the general manager of the Browns last month. Current Browns general manager worked for Wolf as a scout, and later Director of College Scouting from 1991-1998 for the Packers. After stints as the assistant director of both player and pro personnel, he jumped to full-time gigs in both roles, ultimately being named director of football operations in 2016.

Wolf was in high demand after being passed over for the general manager's job with the Green Bay Packers.

Titles matter to those involved, and not just to the agents negotiating these deals and doing their best to keep their clients' names out there, so it's no surprise that a former general manager would be among the first dismissed. We are going to set out to find talented football players that possess that same passion for the game. Dorsey (2000-2012) and Eliot (2004-17) were there for part of it.

Cleveland now has a very distinct Green Bay feel to its front office.

The Cleveland Browns have made a concerted effort over the last several weeks to refigure their front office with new personnel. And the Pack didn't have to look far when it came to Thompson's successor. With everyone in the front office bringing successful experience and a unified message into the building, Jackson will need to get on board and quick. Per previous reports, former Bengals offensive coordinator Ken Zampese is also scheduled to interview this week, though not necessarily for the coordinator's spot. Hence the team with more NFL titles than any other in league annals was in search for his replacement. When the organization announced that Brian Gutekunst would be taking Thompson's role, Wolf, who was the director of football operations, did not receive a promotion. He'll be the assistant GM for the Browns.
