Doctor: Trump is healthy, did very well on cognitive test

TWITTER DONALD TRUMP FAST FOOD President Trump has been

Jackson, who has served as the White House's top doctor in multiple administrations, said that if Trump "had some type of mental, cognitive issues. he would not have gotten 30out of 30 on the test".

The Montreal Cognitive Assessment, on which Trump scored a flawless 30 out of 30, can help detect Alzheimer's disease as well as mild cognitive impairment, but is not the same as a psychological examination.

The president has a history of elevated cholesterol and takes 10 milligrams of Crestor, a prescription medicine that helps lower LDL cholesterol, daily.

Jackson said a recent incident in which Trump slurred some words while making public remarks may have been the result of Sudafed that the doctor gave the president the previous day.

While reviews of the past five presidents' physical exams show only a brief mention of mental health and none of the records includes a readout of the mental health tests, this letter points out that mental evaluations are routine during physicals, particularly for patients who are 66 or older. Dr Jackson said he did not think such an exam was necessary but conducted it at Mr Trump's request.

Without explicitly denying using the vulgarity, Trump on Monday lashed out at the Democratic senator, who said Trump uttered it on several occasions. Trump answered all 30 questions correctly, Jackson said. Later, Trump attempted to clarify matters by tweeting he was a "very stable genius".

"I think a reasonable goal over the next year or so is to lose 10 to 15 pounds".

Based on the blood profile and other health parameters, Jackson said he has recommended diet and exercise plan for the president for weight loss.

Trump's physician performed the yearly physical Friday at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Maryland.

Jackson said 12 other doctors consulted on the physical, which lasted more than three hours.

Jackson says Trump's overall health "is excellent".

"It is called genetics".

They said, prior to the physical, that mental health testing was not something Trump would undergo.

Questions have been raised about Trump's mental health for a while but got fresh impetus from a recently released tell-all book about his White House tenure that drew a picture of him repeating himself and unable to grasp issues. Dr. Jackson says he performed the screening because Trump asked him to do it.

The highly unusual decision to administer the test appears to have been made in response to speculation that arose from Michael Wolff's explosive tell-all, Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House, which painted the president as an unstable man not fit for office.

Barack Obama then promoted Jackson to the role of presidential physician, a role which has continued under President Trump.
