Irish footballer wins a million euros in lottery

O'Connor's uncle and godfather Peadar Murphy, who lives in Castlebridge, Co Wexford bought the winning raffle ticket in Flanagan's Supermarket, near where he lives, on December 14 and gave it to his nephew as a present.

O'Connor - instrumental in Cork City's league and cup double before being sold to Preston North End last summer - enjoyed a hero's welcome when he validated the ticket on Tuesday morning.

His uncle posted the ticket to Kevin with the Christmas message: "I wish you the best of luck", little knowing it was to become such a valuable piece of paper.

The 22-year-old was named the victor on Tuesday morning after validating his ticket at a supermarket in Castlebridge in the Republic of Ireland and he is believed to have collected his winnings from the National Lottery's headquarters in Dublin on Tuesday afternoon. He has not changed one bit. If I was to pick a person to win I could not have done any better.

The Ireland Under-21 star returned home to Wexford on Monday night having been told his ticket had been drawn the night before in the Irish Lotto's Millionaire's Raffle.

Apple will replace your iPhone battery for $29 regardless of test results
Apple fixed the issue by spreading out those tasks over several processor cycles, effectively slowing down the phone. What that could well mean is that you're at the mercy of whichever Genius you have an appointment with.

Louis revealed he could not believe it when contacted by the National Lottery.

"I have no immediate plans but it will take a few days before we make any decisions".

Preston has an FA Cup third round tie against Wycombe this Saturday.

O'Connor, who primarily plays as a left-back, began his career with his local club Waterford United in 2013 before singing for League of Ireland club Cork City in April 2015.
