'Jersey Shore' Star The Situation Pleads Guilty in Tax Fraud Case

Federal Courthouse in Newark after a court appearance.

The charge of aiding in the preparation of false and fraudulent tax return to which Marc Sorrentino pleaded guilty carries a maximum penalty of three years in prison.

Michael Sorrentino's lawyer didn't comment Wednesday on what charges to which his client would plead guilty.

Marc Sorrentino admitted that during tax years 2010, 2011 and 2012, he earned taxable income and that he assisted his accountants in preparing his personal tax return for those years, willfully providing them with false information.

Sorrentino confirmed the Jersey Shore revival in July 2017, telling Entertainment Tonight, "There definitely is a reunion-style situation coming".

Indictment: Gym, tan, fraud? He also claimed numerous personal expenses, including luxury cars and clothing, as business write-offs, according to court documents.

They were charged in 2014 and again past year with multiple counts related to almost $9 million in income from the show. Both also faced counts of filing false returns, each of which carries a maximum three-year sentence.

"Years later, I still don't know what happened to be honest with you", Sorrentino said.

Michael Sorrentino on Friday pleaded guilty to one count of tax evasion for deliberately concealing some of his income in 2011 by making cash deposits in amounts of less than $10,000 so they wouldn't trigger federal reporting requirements.

TMZ notes that Mike Sorrentino's attorneys, Henry E. Klingeman and Kristen M. Santillo, released a statement following the plea in which they call for leniency. It ran from 2009 to 2012. In November, MTV confirmed that a reboot featuring the original cast members will air in 2018 titled "Jersey Shore Family Vacation".

Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino is now facing jail time due to tax charges.

One of the former stars of the "Jersey Shore" reality TV show is expected to plead guilty to cheating on his taxes.

Michael Sorrentino admitted to concealing income in 2011 to avoid paying taxes when he allegedly earned almost $1.96 million, while his older brother, who acted as Michael Sorrentino's manager, told the court that from 2010 through 2012, he provided false information to his accountants to under-report income.
