Logan Paul Asks For "Second Chance" & Then Promos His Merch

YouTube Adresses Diversity and Logan Paul — TCA

For Google Preferred, which YouTube was reportedly reimagining in the wake of the Logan Paul scandal, major changes are also afoot. (Previously, the only requirement was that a channel reach 10,000 viewers.) Existing channels will become subject to the same new set of Partner Program requirements on February 20.

Under the new terms, if an account has been issued three community guidelines strikes, YouTube will remove that user's accounts and channels from the video-sharing site, according to Muret's blog post.

This includes: stricter criteria for content monetization on YouTube; manual reviews on Google Preferred; greater controls for advertisers on what they deem as "appropriate content"; plus greater protection for YouTube creators.

The video-maker also revealed he believes the backlash has been "fair" after YouTube pulled him from their ads and removed him from one of their original series.

Beginning today, in order to be eligible for the YPP, creators will need to have surpassed 4,000 hours of watch time within the previous year, and boast at least 1,000 subscribers. Google said that the manual review process will be set up by the middle of February in the US and by the end of March in other countries. I've never faced criticism like this before, because I've never made a mistake like this before.

"These changes will help us better fulfill the promise YouTube holds for advertisers: the chance to reach over 1.5 billion people around the world who are truly engaged with content they love".

As YouTube fielded complaints from advertisers, the company has defended itself by pointing to the number of creators that depend on the service for their livelihood.

Logan Paul said he believes he deserves a second chance after coming under fire for posting a YouTube video of an apparent suicide victim in Japan last month.

Mohan and Kyncl seemed to allude to the Paul situation in their blog post.

Mohan and Kyncl said while the change is expected to "tackle the potential abuse of a large but disparate group of smaller channels" the company is aware of much of an impact the "bad action of a single, large channel can also have on the community "and how advertisers view YouTube". "We'll be working to schedule conversations with our creators in the months ahead so we can hear your thoughts and ideas and what more we can do to tackle that challenge".
