Nvidia's GeForce Experience update standardizes post-processing

Nvidia Freestyle ARK

Not a lot going on here beyond a Fortnight performance update (which already runs like butter on NVIDIA), and included ShadowPlay Highlight support in Battle Royale mode.

Nvidia is rolling out a brand new update adding a new tool called "Freestyling" to its "GeForce Experience" client application that will allow users to add filters and other post-processing effects on the fly, without any modifications on supported games. In case you weren't aware of, the NVIDIA Freestyle lets you apply post-processing filters to your games. The update has also refreshed the "Nvidia Ansel" screenshot tool with a new UI along with 8 new filters with the option to use multiple filters at the same time, helping you get that ideal in-game screenshot and allowing you to export it in a high-fidelity format. Just select games from your personal library of PC titles or purchase new ones from the digital store of your choice, like Steam® and Uplay™ PC.

The cloud-based nature of the service also provides a game syncing service, allowing you to start a game on one device and carry on with another device.

While some of these filters do serve a goal - Night Mode could be useful to those who face eye strain while gaming late at night and Colorblind mode makes it easier to distinguish between colors - majority appear to be designed purely with fun in mind.

Freestyle's more serious uses include a colorblind mode that makes it easier for colorblind gamers to differentiate between colors. We've also added eight new filters and the ability to combine multiple filters to capture even more incredible photographs.

We've integrated Freestyle at the driver level for seamless compatibility with games.

Freestyle is set to debut on January 9 with support for as many as 100 titles, expanding to a larger number in the near future. It adds Game Ready support for Fortnite and updates SLI profiles for Dirt4, Total War: Warhammer II and X-Morph: Defense.

Ansel has refreshed Photo Mode controls, eight new filters and the ability to combine multiple filters. You can enable them via the Experimental Features from within GeForce Experience settings.

Those interested can download the NVIDIA GeForce 390.65 WHQL driver from here.
