Pakistan, US must work together to defeat terrorism, says Aizaz

In response, the Pakistani Foreign Minister stated that his country was no longer in an alliance with the USA and said that its partner was treating it as a "whipping boy" for its failure in Afghanistan, powerfully remarking that America is "a friend who always betrays".

Should he become the prime minister, PTI chief said "yes we would talk", referring to Trump, but added that the U.S. dishonours the memory of thousands of Pakistani soldiers who died battling militants, as well as that of tens of thousands of Pakistanis who died in terrorist attacks.

According to the Pakistani military, the Chief of the Army Staff reiterated that Pakistan will not seek resumption of aid but expect honourable recognition of our contributions, sacrifices and unwavering resolve in fight against terrorism for peace and stability in the region.

"Pakistan is fully aware of United States concerns on activities of Afghan nationals in Pakistan and we are already undertaking multiple actions through Operation Raddul Fasaad to deny any residual capacity to terrorists of all hue and colour for which return of Afghan refugees is an essential prerequisite", Gen Bajwa was quoted as having told Gen Votel.

Trump's administration last week announced the suspension of about $2 billion in security aid to nuclear-armed Pakistan - officially a U.S. ally - over accusations Islamabad is playing a double game in Afghanistan.

Spokesman Colonel John Thomas said Centcom is in "continuous communication" with the Pakistan military, including recurring conversations between Votel and Bajwa.

Pakistan's politics have been in turmoil since Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was dismissed from power previous year on corruption charges and a party faithful, Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, was sworn in as prime minister until new elections are held.

Rain expected Tuesday, Thursday and Friday
The average temperature at Bradley International Airport was 27.5 degrees, which is 4.1 degrees below normal! Ice changes to snow. Depending on how much cloud cover we get and how much cool air is behind the cool front it could be even lower than that.

The Pakistani statement on Friday did not directly refer to Trump's tweet.

It's still not clear what kind of government Khan envisions for Pakistan. The military aid is a suspension and not a cutoff for Pakistan.

"Pakistan is also important to situation in Afghanistan". Haq remains a close ally of Afghanistan's Taliban.

At the press conference, Imran Khan also said he was committed to "mainstreaming" tens of thousands of madressahs (religious seminaries) in the country.

He said he wants madrassa school graduates to have skills that will allow them to find jobs across all sectors.

"We will train their teachers to bring them into the mainstream", he said, without providing details on how that would be accomplished.
