Queen's bra-fitter Rigby & Peller is stripped of royal title

Queen Elizabeth II

The company which supplied lingerie to Queen Elizabeth II has lost its contract with Buckingham Palace after the owner published a book making references to the Royal family.

Among other reveals, Kenton reportedly wrote about outfitting a half-naked Queen Elizabeth in front of the monarch's beloved Corgis, as well as bringing Princess Diana pictures of scantily clad lingerie models for William and Harry to hang in their dormitories at Eton, the Daily Express reports.

June Kenton, 82, who is still on the board of the company, published her memoirs entitled "Storm in a D-Cup" previous year but said there was "nothing" in it that should have caused offence to the royals.

Storm in a D-Cup reveals details about June's working relationship with other royals including Princess Diana, Princess Margaret and the Queen Mother.

She began providing bespoke undergarments to the Queen in 1960, but the royal warrant didn't automatically pass to the Kentons on buying Rigby & Peller; June had to earn it.

Buckingham Palace told i it never comments on individual companies in respect of Royal Warrants. She later sold off a majority stake in the company in 2011, but remains on the board.

Rigby & Peller, a luxury underwear firm founded in London, had held the royal warrant since 1960.

Royal warrants are issued to trades people and companies who regularly supply goods or services to the monarchy with many considering it to be one of the highest business accolades in the UK.

UCF fans fund billboard challenging Alabama to a battle of national champions
Instead, the Crimson Tide under Nick Saban have shifted to playing marquee season-opening non-conference games at neutral sites. Next year, Alabama will play Louisville, Arkansas State, UL Lafayette and The Citadel in non-SEC competition.

There are about 800 royal warrant holders, including individuals, small businesses and global companies.

Kenton said that the book is mainly about herself - a "gentle" narrative of her life which she is "proud" of and eager to share.

Rigby & Peller said: "The royal household warrants committee has made a decision to cancel the royal warrant granted to Rigby & Peller and Mrs June Kenton. I can't fight with Buckingham Palace and I wouldn't want to", she said.

"It is very sad for me that they didn't like it and I'm finding that very hard to accept. The book doesn't contain anything naughty", she continued.

"I'm coming towards the end of my life, I'm 82, so it is what is it, there is nothing I can do".

"I recognised the swimsuits in photos of her on that last fateful yachting trip with Dodi Fayed".

Kenton has told reporters she never discusses what happens in a fitting room, though the book does recount her first meeting with the monarch and her trepidation about being ushered into the royal bedroom.

Luxury department store Harrods lost its royal warrant in 2000, after its owner Mohamed al Fayed accused the royals of masterminding the 1997 auto crash that killed Diana and his son Dodi.
