Robert De Niro slams Donald Trump, kisses Meryl Streep

Robert De Niro, once again, made his feelings about Donald Trump very clear Tuesday night.

De Niro's piercing words and name-calling - which included "jerk-off-in-chief" and "f-ing tool" - were not welcomed by many on Twitter, who told the 74-year-old to stick to acting, among other things. "He's a baby-in-chief and the jerkoff-in-chief".

The NBR awards show wasn't as political as the Golden Globes, but De Niro was withering in his criticism of Trump in a profanity-laced speech while introducing Meryl Streep, the victor of the best actress prize for Steven Spielberg's The Post.

The actor even held an anti-Trump rally in New York City post-election, and while giving a talk to a class of Brown University graduates in May after being awarded an honorary degree, he declared that, "in movie terms", the US was once "an inspiring uplifting drama" but has since turned into "a tragic dumb-ass comedy".

"That brings us to 'The Post, ' and another signature performance from the extraordinary Meryl Streep". De Niro asked, referencing Wilson in "Castaway". "Today, the world is suffering from the real Donald Trump", he said.

The expletives were soon out in full force.

"Our baby-in-chief - the j-off-in-chief, I call him - has put the press under siege, ridiculing it through trying to discredit it through outrageous attacks and lies", De Niro said. This f-ing idiot is the president.

Trump continuously refers to the media as "fake news" when it suits him and De Niro's had enough. "It's The Emperor's New Clothes - the guy is a fucking fool", De Niro said.

"And again, just like in 1971, the press is distinguishing itself with courageous, exacting journalism", he added in reference to the media's coverage of the infamous Watergate scandal.

Both Streep and De Niro have been critics of Trump and Supported Hillary Clinton in the 2016 presidential election.
