Sacramento bookstores experience 'unprecedented' demand for Trump tell-all

White House meltdown

Author Michael Wolff's sensational book on President Donald Trump's administration is the top seller online.

But Trump is attacking the book saying he did not authorize access to the White House, that he never spoke to the book's author and that it is full of lies and misrepresentations.

"I want to get an insider's opinion into what was going inside this White House", John Cota explained when asked about his interest in the book.

In multiple tweets this week, Trump has also ripped into Bannon, who is purported to be one of the Wolff's primary sources, after he was quoted criticising the president and members of his family in the book.

Wolff also claimed Trump did not know the word "Brexit" when Wolff interviewed him weeks before the referendum in 2016. Other excerpts depicted Trump being angry over celebrity snubs at his inauguration, and that he eats fast food because he is afraid he might be poisoned.

Beers Books in downtown Sac is keeping a running tab of calls they've received today asking for Fire & Fury.

The book "Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House", written by Michael Wolff moved 48,448 positions up on Amazon's bestseller list to reach the no. 1 spot before its release.

Barnes & Noble in Racine also sold out Friday morning, and the local Target, Costco and Walmart stores had no copies to sell.

Some of Mr. Bannon's preferred candidates, like former Rep. Michael Grimm of NY, denounced Mr. Bannon after his comments became public.

"I got in the race before I met or talked to or had any relationship with Steve Bannon", Mr. Tarkanian told reporters.

But Trump said Wolff "was never in the Oval Office" and "we didn't have an interview".

Wolff has maintained that he has records and notes of interviews he conducted for the book, and said he spent three hours with Trump himself.

White House officials described the president as furious at Bannon's criticisms, laid out in an explosive new book that quoted the former aide as questioning Trump's competence and describing a June 2016 meeting at Trump Tower between Donald Trump Jr., Trump campaign aides and a Russian lawyer as "treasonous" and "unpatriotic".

Mr Trump's lawyers tried to block publication of the book, before publishers brought the release date forward.

Wolff continues, "Sometimes I have let the players offer their versions, in turn allowing the reader to judge them". In a series of tweets, Mr Trump denied ever speaking to Mr Wolff for the book and lashed out at his one-time adviser Steve Bannon, dubbing him "sloppy Steve". "I am certainly and absolutely in every way comfortable with what I have reported", he added.

The tell-all diary outlines, among other things, Trump's sour relationship with ex-aide Steve Bannon.
