People can have a reasonable debate about how that needs to happen, and you can still agree with that premise and also feel that Rian Johnson's particular direction is the wrong one.

"Mormons believe a lot of things that are pretty fantastic - we believe in miracles and angels and ancient prophets and rediscovered Scripture - so maybe it is nearly natural for us to dive into these other stories", Mormon fantasy author Shannon Hale told the Boston Globe. "It's not like there was ever a point where he said, 'OK, that all makes sense to me, '" Johnson explained. Maybe he's 'Jake Skywalker, ' he's not my Luke Skywalker.

Then we get to The Force Awakens.

Adam Driver wasn't shy about stripping off in "Star Wars: The Last Jedi". The Last Jedi displays the touch of an excellent filmmaker.

"Given that we have a handsome, complete performance from her that I think audiences deserve to see, and I think it will mean a lot for them, that ray of hope from Leia". If we add in The Last Jedi's second Thursday (because advanced Thursday screenings are added to the opening Friday), Star Wars: The Last Jedi still drops by a whopping 60%. After an hour, I would have filled up pages and pages writing down the notes and one-liners that she would pitch.

While this angered some, I was fine with it. Rey didn't need to be labeled as someone else's daughter, she's her own person.

I wasn't a fan of Star Wars: The Last Jedi as well, and you can read my thoughts here, as well as our more formal review wasn't big on the flick. In the original trilogy we got that.

"The Last Jedi" has grossed more than $296 million since its release last week, Forbes reported. "I had to justify the choices I made to him". Books, temples and the Jedi will end, but the Force between the dark and the light will go on.

There were high expectations coming into this film but nothing like what was felt right after the movie had been seen. The same goes for that brief psychic transmission between her and Kylo Ren in a tense Last Jedi moment that (barely) kept young Solo from killing both his parents, and when Luke looked to the twin suns of Ahch-To one last time before he became one with the Force.

Some wonder if parallel themes in Mormonism and Star Wars were intentional: After all, "A New Hope" and "Empire Strikes Back" were produced by Gary Kurtz, a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. And when your fandom is of the biggest movie franchise in the world, a lot of opinions are being thrown around.
