Storm system brings snow, ice to Florida

Much of the United States is experiencing freezing temperatures, including the sunshine state.

In Orlando, Florida's largest theme parks announced that water attractions such as Disney's Typhoon Lagoon, Universal Orlando's Volcano Bay and SeaWorld's Aquatica were closed Wednesday because of the cold snap.

It's the first time in 28 years that snow has fallen in Tallahassee, The Weather Channel reported.

The weather service in Tallahassee tweeted that there's 0.1 inch of snow on the roof of the building. The area received enough snow for police to tweet a warning to residents, along with a video of snow falling on a Tallahassee Police Department vehicle.

How alcohol damages stem cell DNA and increases cancer risk
Millions of people - particularly from Southeast Asia - either lack these enzymes or carry faulty versions, said the team. This substance was found to be able to break down and distort DNA molecules within the blood stem cells.

Weather officials are urging caution as blizzards and heavy snow are expected along the East Coast until Friday.

The last time a wintry blast hit Tallahassee with any measurable snowfall was December 22-23, 1989, when an inch fell.

It doesn't look like Florida's capital will see a lot of the cold, white fluff however, as reports say the snow is already starting to melt, although roads remain icy.

Although temperatures will continue to dip below freezing in the area for the next few days, a zero percent chance of precipitation means this might be Tallahassee's only fling with snow for the foreseeable future.
