UCF fans fund billboard challenging Alabama to a battle of national champions

University of Central Florida football fans bought a billboard advertisement in Tuscaloosa congratulating the University of Alabama on its national championship victory. People are so upset with UCF crowning themselves national champions, and now people are even complaining about them getting first-place votes. The Colley Matrix, which was one of the six computer formulas used in the BCS, instead ended the season with undefeated UCF as the No. 1 team. The Crimson Tide are set to open the 2018 season in Orlando vs. Louisville. And you gotta hand it to UCF fans for trying.

Next year, Alabama will play Louisville, Arkansas State, UL Lafayette and The Citadel in non-SEC competition. Instead, the Crimson Tide under Nick Saban have shifted to playing marquee season-opening non-conference games at neutral sites.

It's nice to aim high, UCF fans, but a future series with the Tide probably won't happen (cries of "We Want Bama!" never go well anyway). They played a far harder schedule, of course, which is why they made the Playoff while UCF was relegated to a lesser-but-still-good Peach Bowl. And it's kind of a shame, really. UCF finished the season 13-0 and were ranked 6th in the final College Football Playoff Standings. They already have games against Duke, Southern Miss and New Mexico State on the docket in 2019 and Georgia State and Kent State in 2020.
