Apple devices with Telugu character sent on bootloop while software update

Why does Apple slow old iPhones

After a horrendous week in late December, 2018's start is not calmer either.

The tech giant is urgently working to fix a bug which brings the device to its knees when a single character in Telugu, an Indian language, is sent to the device or typed in its text editor.

It must be noted that Apple has not set any deadline for when existing apps must be updated to these new guidelines, however, the upcoming iOS apps will have to be compatible with iPhone X from April.

A fix for the glitch is expected once Apple release iOS 11.3 which is expected sometime in the next few months.

Others have gotten even more devious, such as a security researcher who added the symbol to his Uber handle, which would crash the app anytime a driver with an iPhone tried to pick them up. Once you are in, the thread of the bad symbol can be deleted for good. The iOS bug also affects built-in Messages app on macOS and the Apple Watch, as well as the App Store and Safari. However, experts said that for WhatsApp and similar services, the problem will not easily go away, as the user has to enable web access.

The character above can also crash the entire iPhone if the symbol appears in a notification card or banner, forcing you to restart the phone.

If this is your first time using Control Center, you'll be greeted with the default controls on the screen that allow you to do things like adjust the device volume, screen brightness, and more. In January, several users reported that sending a specific link could disable the iPhone. Apple is now looking into the issues to reinstate the architecture of the software in the eyes of the public and make the updates, more efficient and stable. In 2015, iMessage froze whenever a string of weird letters was sent. And in January, the company's software chief Craig Federighi reportedly told his team that some new features planned for iOS 12 would be delayed to next year.
