Bollywood actress Sridevi passes away at 54

Actress Sridevi, 54, one of the most celebrated actresses of the Hindi film industry has passed away.

The news was confirmed by Sridevi's brother-in-law Sanjay Kapoor to The Indian Express.

The unfortunate news came from the UAE as the actress was there with her husband Boney Kapoor and daughter Kushi to attend the marriage ceremony of Mohit Marwah. "I don't know more details yet", Sanjay told the newspaper.

At the tender age of 13, she played her first adult role in K Balachander's film Moondru Mudichu and acted as Rajinikanth's stepmother.

As a lead actress in Bollywood, Sridevi made her debut in Solva Sawan, which was released in 1978. She also worked in Malayalam, Telugu and Kannada films.
