Chloe-mania! Olympic fans go ga-ga over American 'icon'

American snowboarder Chloe Kim is one of snowboarding's brightest young stars, but her journey did not come without sacrifice.

Chloe Kim blew away the field and the crowd at the Pyeongchang Games in South Korea, winning the gold medal in the women's snowboard halfpipe.

Jong Kim is insistent that college takes priority now that his daughter has captured the golden hardware, but his daughter has other thoughts, maybe about eating churros and ice cream instead. As you have no doubt heard by now, before embarking on her stunning victory lap in the women's snowboarding half-pipe event, Kim faced an all too familiar predicament. After her first run Tuesday, a flawless 93.75 that put her in first place by a whopping 8.25 points, Kim covered her mouth with both hands, as if she could not believe what she had done, as if she had not long ago made the incredible routine.

Behind Nuis, the 22-year-old Roest raced with the ruthless abandon of an Olympic rookie and took silver, 0.85 seconds off the pace.

The teenager, who has melted the hearts of home fans in Pyeongchang, justified her status as the hot favorite with an eye-popping top score of 98.25.

Kim is used to breaking records by now: When she was 15, she became the youngest person ever to win gold at the X-Games, and the first female athlete to land back-to-back 1080s in competition.

After successfully landing a back-to-back 1080 degree trick, which consists of doing three 360-degree rotations in the air followed by another three 360-degree rotations in the air, Chloe Kim received a high score of 98.25 points. "I've given my life to pursuing this dream". I think today I did it for my family and I am so grateful to them.

If it's the end of one wonderful career, it's also just the start of another. Well, not exactly the beginning because Kim - whose family name is universal in Korea - has been dominant the past four seasons.

The 17-year-old athlete's father, Jong Jin Kim, set the Twittersphere on fire following her performance in PyeongChang, South Korea.

The snowboarder also said that between her second and third runs, she found out that her grandmother - who had never seen her compete - had traveled from Seoul to Pyeongchang to watch her.

"This one is for Grams", said Kim, who often appeared distracted in a news conference after the victory.

"Wish I finished my breakfast sandwich but my stubborn self decided not to and now I'm getting "hangry"," she wrote.

She explained to reporters that she had been on Twitter to help her relax and that she was craving a burger or a Hawaiian pizza. But on Tuesday, Korean-Americans in Atlanta talked about the pride they take in not just the gold medalist, but the parents who raised her.

A senior Olympic official hailed Canadian skater Eric Radford yesterday after he became the first openly gay man to win Winter Games gold.

She already had moved to Folsom while continuing to own her Mammoth home.

Deas, a 29-year-old from Wrexham, claimed her first World Cup win in November 2015 and was fourth at the 2017 World Championships.

"I've never lived near a mall", Clark told this news organization.
