Engaged! Idris Elba Pops the Question at Movie Screening

Idris Elba

All in a day's work for Idris Elba, as the actor has just proposed to girlfriend Sabrina Dhowre at a screening of his new film, Yardie, in London.

The romantic moment had Elba getting down on one knee to pop the question.

Neither Elba nor Dhowre have publicly confirmed the engagement, and reps for Elba didn't immediately reply to a request for comment.

The engagement comes as a slight surprise for fans given that a year ago Idris swore he was never getting married again, especially after divorcing twice, as Bossip pointed out. Yeah, I don't think so. "Yeah, I don't think so", he told Essence magazine last July. Marriage is an institution of sorts and I've done it. It's not for everybody. "It's not my life's calling", he said at the time.

The couple met and began dating while Ebla was making his 2017 film The Mountain Between Us.

Although just past year, Elba told Essence Magazine that he likely wouldn't get married again, it seems that he's ready to give it one more try with the beauty queen.

The SAG Award victor told People magazine that he fell in love with Dhowre while filming "The Mountain Between Us" in which he stars opposite Kate Winslet. He has two children, a 15-year-old with his ex-wife Kim and a three-year-old son with ex-girlfriend Naiyana Garth.
