Fox News To Launch Streaming Service Aimed at 'Fox Superfans'

Following in the footsteps of other cable TV channels, Fox News plans to launch a standalone subscription service that will be available to viewers without a cable package.

Today it was reported that Fox News will be launching a new streaming service called "Fox Nation". Instead, the network is planning to develop hours of new daily programming with new anchors and commentators.

Executives did not outline specific hosts who would appear via the new service. It is expected to launch in the fourth quarter of 2018. ESPN is set to launch its subscription service, ESPN Plus, this spring. Indeed, the 21st Century Fox-owned outlet was projected to generate $1.67 billion in revenue from programming fees paid by cable and satellite distributors in 2016 by market-research firm SNL Kagan said, compared with $952.8 million in net advertising revenue. Neither of Fox News' main cable rivals, CNN and MSNBC, have a comparable streaming product (CNN has CNNgo, but it requires a cable subscription). The number one network in cable, FNC has been the most watched television news channel for 16 years and according to a Gallup/Knight Foundation Survey, is the most the most objective information source in the country. According to The New York Times, its focus would be "primarily on right-leaning commentary" and would feature original programming.

Fox Nation will be housed at FOX News headquarters in NY utilizing its new state-of-the-art technology and the most modern studio space in the industry.
