Increased prices at Disney parks in Florida, California

Purchasing a Disneyland Resort annual pass will cost more starting on Feb. 11 2018

One-day prices to the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida rose 2 percent to 4 percent, with tickets there now ranging between $109 and $129.

Annual pass prices at California's Disneyland are going up by as much as almost 18 percent, as Disney looks to better balance its crowd levels throughout the year.

A one-day adult ticket for Disneyland or California Adventure is $99 for the low-demand days, such as weekdays in May.

At Disneyland, the regular price of admission at the Anaheim, California, park will rise to $117, a $7 change. And this is just the warm-up for some fundamental changes to Disney's ticketing programs yet to come later this year. "Regular" times for adults will be $114 for adults and $108 for children, and "peak" tickets jump to $122 and $116, respectively for adults and children. "We will continue to evolve our pricing in a way that gives them a range of options to meet their budget and helps better spread attendance throughout the year so they can make the most of every visit".

The Florida-resident Platinum pass, with has no block out dates, now costs $729, up from $679. A single-day ticket during peak times will cost $135, which is an $11 increase over a year ago.

Southern California residents still have rights to buy a "select passport" for 369 US dollars but that pass blocks out all weekends and nearly the entire summer and Christmas season.

That means that at some point in 2018, multi-day tickets to Walt Disney World's theme parks will become date-specific. Standard parking will now cost $22 per day, while preferred parking will cost $45 per day.

Disney has several projects in the works including Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge, set to open in 2019, a Guardians of the Galaxy coaster at Epcot and a Tron coaster at Magic Kingdom. The program is created to entice guests to visit the parks in the United States during less busy times of the year.
