Israel Warplanes Attack Syrian Base Near Damascus

President Hassan Rohani greets Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu at the start of their meeting at the presidency office in Tehran Iran

A renewed onslaught of bombing in Syria's besieged Eastern Ghouta enclave has wreaked havoc in the region, killing almost 200 people in a matter of days and shattering cease-fire negotiations.

Parly highlighted the fighting in rebel-held areas of Idlib province and eastern Damascus, where waves of Syrian government and Russian strikes have killed dozens of civilians in recent days.

Obama, naively, backed down when Russian President Vladimir Putin intervened and offered the United States president a deal that the Syrian government would destroy all its chemical weapons if only Obama would back down on his threat to use force against Damascus.

"The threat of using chemical weapons remains, this is a very serious situation".

According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, on the fourth day of attacks against a rebel-held region yesterday, warplanes pounded various parts of eastern Ghouta, a besieged pocket of satellite towns and farms near the Syrian capital of Damascus.

The SDF and the coalition targeted the attacking forces with air strikes and shelling after "20 to 30 artillery and tank rounds landed within 500 metres (yards) of the SDF headquarters location", a U.S. official said.

Poland's president signed into law on Tuesday a bill that imposes jail terms for suggesting the country was complicit in.

In Idleb, the military operations resulted in increased casualties and movement of civilians to safer areas.

Ankara announced Thursday it would host a new three-way summit to revive efforts to end the war, which has killed at least 340,000 people and displaced millions since 2011.

The Idlib area is home to more than 1.1 million of Syria's 6.5 million internally displaced people, many of whom escaped other formerly opposition-held areas after they were overrun by government forces, according to United Nations figures.

Yousef al-Boustani, an opposition media activist in eastern Ghouta's Douma neighborhood, called the air raids "hysterical". It said one of its workers was killed by an airstrike while attempting a rescue in the area. Sirens and wailing mixed with the relentless sound of airstrikes as residents of eastern Ghouta were unable to keep up with the onslaught.

Among them were at least 58 children, the Observatory said. "We demanded it several times".

Russian Federation has waged a punishing aerial campaign against Syria's armed opposition since intervening in the civil war on the side of its ally, President Bashar Assad, in 2015.

At least 75 civilians have been killed in the Bashar al-Assad regime's airstrikes in Syria's Eastern Ghouta on Thursday, according to sources from Syrian Civil Defense.

Local hospitals in the besieged enclave are struggling to treat hundreds of injured residents, some of them in critical condition, Civil Defense spokesman Siraj Mahmoud said in an online video statement on Tuesday night. It's targeting Kurdish YPG militias, which it views as a terrorist group - an extension of the outlawed Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) that has waged a deadly three-decade insurgency in Turkey.

Syrian state media reported that the target was situated in Jamraya, on the outskirts of Damscus. "For 30 years we have been sending our soldiers to fight Iran's" proxies in the region, he said.

"It means you have calculations against Turkey and Iran, and maybe Russian Federation".

As many as 150 airstrikes were conducted by Russian Federation on Idlib province, between Sunday and Monday.

The Turkish military said a rocket and mortar attack by militants had killed one Turkish soldier while the post was being set up on Monday.

Having seized back territory in south-west Syria last month, Assad forces and their Iranian backed allies might soon reclaim much of the area up to Israel's disputed border, the Brussels based group said.
