Manchester United's Scott McTominay nervous about replacing Paul Pogba

Jose Mourinho hugged a reporter for asking about the performance of Scott McTominay instead of Paul Pogba after Manchester United's 0-0 draw with Sevilla, before going on to shower the young midfielder with praise. "We now have one match to decide everything at Old Trafford".

"It's all to play for. We had a good percentage of the ball and that means control of the game, and Paul had the responsibility for that". We had to win, and because of this, we are disappointed for the fans that have been incredible tonight.

Mourinho has gone on record saying he plans to buy at least one central midfielder this summer to replace the retiring Michael Carrick.

"But you look where he is today and that's a sign of someone who has worked hard to get where he needs to get".

Keane seemed to absolve Mourinho of any blame for the turgid display, despite claiming that United were "playing as individuals". "I think it's a bad injury", Mourinho said, as quoted by the Daily Mail.

"He was fantastic, he did everything well".

He was subsequently left out of the starting XI in the Premier League meeting with Huddersfield Town, before returning and disappointing again in the 1-0 loss at Newcastle United. But, we also kept a few clean sheets with [Sergio] Romero in goal, so I think the team even with a couple of mistakes, the team defended well and when we made the mistakes, obviously David was there. He was always comfortable, simple, saving in possession - he was brilliant. "That's what you want in your career".

Mourinho added: "He looked fit and the way he was playing during the time he was on the pitch - he was pressing a lot, really high - you only do that when you feel good".

"Obviously nerves are natural, it's how you deal with those nerves and once you go out there, you just forget about it", he told MUTV.

"Once you're out there, you just forget about it". "They will take the initiative in the second leg but we usually want to play our part and we'll try to own the game".
