Netflix's Lost in Space reboot reveals first teaser trailer

AM ET ‘Lost in Space’ Premieres on Netflix April 13 Danger Will Robinson! Streaming service reimagines ‘60s sci fi classic

Netflix described the reboot as equal parts family drama and sci-fi adventure as the crew battles a odd new alien environment and their own personal demons.

Premiering April 13, Netflix's Lost in Space stars Toby Stephens (Black Sails) as Dr. John Robinson, Molly Parker (Deadwood) as Dr. Maureen Robinsin, Taylor Russell (Falling Skies) as Judy Robinson, Mina Sundwall as Penny Robinson, Maxwell Jenkins (Betrayal) as Will Robinson, Parker Posey as Dr. Smith and Ignacio Serricchio as the ship's pilot, Don West.

Nearly three years ago, Netflix and Legendary TV joined forces for a modern reboot of Irwin Allen's Lost in Space, and now the departure date is almost upon us. Members can play, pause and resume watching, all without commercials or commitments.

The show will focus on the Robinson family, "forced to come together in a time of crisis" as they are stranded light years from their intended destination. Though there's been quite a few reboots since then, including a 1998 film version starring Matt LeBlanc and Gary Oldman, it's been two decades since the last-making it fertile ground for yet another Netflix original series as the streaming service continues to almost triple the number of shows they've had since 2010. There's also that one line of dialogue at the end of the trailer: "Danger, Will Robinson!"

The new Lost in Space comes from Prison Break producer Zack Estrin and will feature several episodes shot by acclaimed Game of Thrones director Neil Marshall. But during their venture, the Robinsons find themselves thrown off course and struggling to find the way towards their new home. Disaster strikes when their ship is thrown off course, leaving the Robinsons - along with fellow crew members Don West (Ignacio Serricchio) and Dr. Smith (Parker Posey!) - stranded on the surface of a unsafe alien planet.
