New iOS update lets users stop Apple from slowing down phones

Apple releases Battery Health tool for iPhones

Apple apparently wants all this chaos to end as much as its fans do, which is why it's apparently made a decision to focus on 2 years of phased updates to the iPhone and iPad. Changes that have been postponed reportedly include a revised iPhone home screen design and new options in the Photos app. Apple will instead polish the features which do get included, instead of committing to a massive list of new things so it can keep claiming year-over-year functionality jumps. Apple is now going towards perfecting the upcoming release of iOS 12 and delaying more drastic features for future versions. Apple then has a smaller update roughly six months later, giving it the opportunity to tweak and improve features and perhaps thrown in a few new additions.

On the one hand, some features have missed their expected release date.

These features will be part of a new iOS release that's reportedly codenamed Peace.

That means a new model of the tablet should come with the Face ID camera, which is what enables Apple's Animoji feature.

The code was leaked online via GitHub last week, which prompted Apple to order the website to take down the post, a report from TheVerge noted. Does a software update with a bevy of new features excite you, or a stable release with relatively lesser new features? In comparison, Google Inc.'s latest operating system, Android Oreo, which was released in August, is only on 1.1 percent of devices, while the older versions such as Nougat (28.5 percent), Marshmallow (28.1 percent) and Lollipop (24.6 percent) still make up the bulk of the devices. The company is looking at updating FaceTime with support for multi-person video conferencing; however, that may not be ready for this year. These would include Animoji feature in FaceTime, a deeper Siri integration, improvements to the Stocks app and Do Not Disturb mode, as well as a new multiplayer mode for augmented reality games.

The change could lead to more polished software update and less bugs. iOS 11 hasn't been flawless so far, for starters, with customers having to contend with autocorrect bugs, messages arriving out of order, and the calculator app misbehaving. This wouldn't be surprising given that Apple Watch and iMessage apps can also be downloaded from the iOS App Store.

Apple is also expected to update its Animojis feature this fall. I'm running iOS 11.2.5 on my iPhone and the new section is available without any additional update.
