PyeongChang Olympics - Day 5 Wrap / Day 6 Preview

The women's slalom is set to take place at the 2018 Winter Olympics on Tuesday, but adverse weather has affected the alpine skiing program from the Pyeongchang Games. Disruption to Alpine skiing competitions is not unusual, however, and it is a rare Games where some re-jigging of the schedule is not necessary.

While her Giant Slalom results have been somewhat mixed this season, she has shown signs of her true potential with some of her best World Cup results in this, her preferred discipline.

"If the wind continues to blow for then next 15 days it might be a problem but at present everything is okay", IOC Presidential spokesperson Mark Adams said. Rather than being postponed, that event was run after a delay.

Friday also will be a double-competition day, with the women's slalom at the Yongpyong Alpine Center that hosts technical races, and the men's super-G at the Jeongseon Alpine Center speed hill about 30 miles (50 kilometers) away.

There are two runs on Thursday, the first starting at 10 am local time (0100 GMT/8 pm ET) and the second at 1.45 pm (0445 GMT/11.45 pm ET).

Bray Wyatt , "Woken" Matt Hardy , and Apollo Crews (with Titus O'Neil) by pinning Bray Wyatt following a double team powerbomb. Each man was hellbent on making it to the Elimination Chamber , shining in a moment of glory as chaos reigned supreme.

Shiffrin, a favorite in the slalom - she won gold in that event in 2014 - is now slated to race that event on Friday. But don't be surprised if it gets delayed again or postponed to a different day.

Shiffrin is the defending champion in the slalom and will be trying to become the first man or woman to win that Olympic gold twice in a row; she also has claimed three consecutive world titles. And the second thing is: Have a good, fair race.

For the second time in three days, Shiffrin's Pyeongchang debut was pushed back due to inclement conditions. "So that's something we're considering as we move forward".

Shiffrin will open defense of her Olympic gold in the slalom Tuesday night. The U.S. has four riders in the final field of 12, with first-time Olympians Ben Ferguson, Chase Josey and Jake Pates also aiming for the podium.

"Everyone is a little bummed out when a day like this happens, but they do happen, so we're quite used to it", said Kristofic, who with Shiffrin and speed queen Lindsey Vonn on his team will be hoping for a major medal haul. Prior to these Games, there were some who suggested that Shiffrin could possibly be the first skier to medal in all five disciplines in the same Olympics.
