Russian curling medalist tests positive for banned substance

Le russe Alexander Krushelnitsky risque de perdre sa médaille pour dopage

The information on the B sample hasn't been officially confirmed by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) or the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).

The Russians were hoping that a clean record at Pyeongchang would persuade the International Olympic Committee to allow them to shed their neutral status at Sunday's closing ceremony and to march behind a Russian flag and in national uniform.

Gangneung: A Russian curling coach on Monday sprang to the defence of Alexander Krushelnitsky, the curler at the centre of doping allegations, saying: "It's stupid and Alexander is not a stupid man".

Moiseeva was of the opinion that it is some kind of mistake.

We regret to inform you that the scourge of doping has hit the most innocent and pure sport imaginable: curling.

"I have known these guys for many years".

Russian and global media on February 18 reported that traces of the banned substance meldonium were found in the A-sample of Krushelnitsky. It's a unusual story.

Nuance is discontinuing its Swype keyboard for Android and iOS
In announcing the iOS version's fate, the product team said Nuance will no longer be offering the Swype keyboard in the App Store. The keyboard is known for its exceptionally good response time and the customization options provided by the developers.

"The circumstances of the case do not provide any answers to the questions as to how and when meldonium could have gotten into the athlete's body", the delegation said, noting that it didn't make any sense considering a pre-games sample taken from Krushelnitsky on January 22 and all previous tests were negative.

Krushelnitckii's "A sample" tested positive, as did a second sample, released Tuesday.

A Russian athlete has failed a preliminary doping test at the Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea, the New York Times reported Sunday. "Thus, the fact of a conscious or systematic use of the banned substance is not confirmed", Vybornov said, in a translation by state-run Tass media.

A Russian curling athlete, who won a medal at the PyeongChang Winter Olympics, has reportedly left the games amid suspicions of doping. Krushelnitsky did not respond to a Reuters request for comment while a spokesman for a Russian delegation declined to comment.

The couple won Russia's first-ever medal in curling. All of them were cleared of doping charges after they proved they had taken the drug before it was prohibited.

"I hope it's not true for the sport of curling", Norwegian curler Thomas Ulsrud told the paper.

Meanwhile the Swede Sebastian Samuelsson, who won silver in the 12.5km pursuit race in the biathlon last week, has called on his fellow athletes to boycott the World Cup final in Russian Federation next month.
