Samsung launches data-saving and privacy-protecting Samsung Max app for Android

Samsung Max supports the latest iteration of Samsung's unique and easy-to-use features, "Data Saving Mode" and 'Privacy Protection.' Samsung Max is replacing Opera Max - one of the largest mobile virtual private networks (VPNs) in the world - and now, its two key features are accessible to millions of more Samsung users. Last year, Opera discontinued the Opera Max but Samsung has reviewed it and has rebranded it as Samsung Max. So if you've been happily using Opera Max on a non-Samsung device for the past six months, the next update that rolls out will render the app useless for you.

Ltd. today introduced Samsung Max, a new and free Android application created to promote mobile data savings and application privacy management, with data usage monitoring and enhanced Wi-Fi security. It achieves this by compressing images and video as well as music files and web pages where possible. Other features include an Incognito Mode which helps avoid targeted ads and data snoopers from tracking you. The app also has the functionality to block background data and data access for any app. Apparently, there's also a "Boost Wi-Fi" feature that helps improve connection of weak hotspots and crowded areas.

It's unclear how much Samsung paid for the service, if anything at all, but you'd imagine it wasn't a lot since it was destined for closure.

School where deadly shooting took place to reopen for teachers
We've got to have the resources available at the right place, at the right time", said Stacey Cook-Hawk, MSW, LCSW of SalusCare. The sheriff's office also released details of 23 calls to the various homes where Cruz lived over the past nine years.

How many of you have already tried the Opera Max and will use the Samsung Max? make sure you to even try it out. Tracker blocking and DNS masking features make accessing the web a safer experience. Yes, you read that right. No details are available as to whether Samsung paid anything for the app, but given that Opera was going to shutter the service anyway, it's likely Samsung paid very little - if anything - to take it over.

It is worth noting here that the Samsung Max app is presently incompatible with devices other than the eligible Samsung devices. However, even if you have a good chunk of data a month to play with, the app can still be downloaded via Google Play or Galaxy App Stores to provide some control over the amount of cellular data your device sends.
