Video Of Yearbook Of Student Accused Of Being 'Crisis Actor' Goes Viral

That's what you would expect after being the most interviewed teen following the Parkland, Florida shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas Highschool on February 14, 2017.

Nearly immediately after reports of the shooting became public, some accounts on social media dispersed theories that the survivors of the shooting featured in media interviews are so-called "crisis actors".

Conspiracy theorists have pointed to Hogg's admission during a TV interview that his father had retired from the Federal Bureau of Investigation and claimed the teen was being used to cover up the agency's failures to stop the gunman despite reports of his disturbing behavior.

Dwyer's original post adds that "The real truth about this so-called High School gun control activist David Hogg".

"Guys, I'm not an actor", Hogg told Inside Edition Wednesday.

According to theorists, this proves Hogg is an actor paid to make media appearances, as opposed to a student at the Florida school.

The theory that David, who is 17, was coached to speak out against Trump grew from a post by the Gateway Pundit, a hyper-conservative site with a track record for pushing conspiracy theories. Their objective is to role-play disaster victims in emergency drills to train first responders practicing for real emergency procedures.

In a statement, a YouTube spokesperson said, "This video should never have appeared in Trending". A notice on the video now says, "This video has been removed for violating YouTube's policy on harassment and bullying". We've seen similar moves by them many times over.

On Tuesday, David Hogg appeared on CNN's "AC360" with his father to defend himself against the conspiracy theories.

"I was a witness to this", David Hogg said.

Folks on the internet took the claim one step further and claimed that the video was proof that Hogg was just pretending to be a high school student in a different state.

The clips were shared on social media sites and even Donald Trump Jr, the president's eldest son, had reportdely liked a couple of tweets promoting the conspiracy theory against the surviving students.

A U.S. government worker has been sacked after pushing the same conspiracy theories.

"(I guess he transferred?)", Kelly said to the Tampa Bay Times. "We want to do this because we love our city and our school so much", said Lizzie Eaton, another Stoneman Douglas student.

YouTube responded to the controversy by tightening its monetization rules - including restricting what channels are eligible to be monetized, and instituting a manual review of all videos uploaded by "Preferred" partners, whose videos garner a premium advertising rate.
