White House Contradicts FBI Over Information On Rob Porter Controversy

John Kelly Committed A Crime By Letting Rob Porter Handle Classified Info Without Security Clearance

The White House has said Porter was operating under a temporary security clearance as a result of that delay in completing that background check.

The White House is still dealing with the fallout over the Rob Porter domestic abuse scandal, especially since President Donald Trump defended the ex-White House staffer and noted that Porter "says he's innocent" of allegations he abused his ex-wives.

Wray stated to the committee that the FBI had submitted a partial report on Porter in March then completed their investigation in July, at which time they submitted their report to the White House.

"We administratively closed the file in January". "... I have not spoken with the president about this, but I can say, you know, we lean on a process here at the White House and quite frankly, as soon as we found out about this on Tuesday, Wednesday Rob Porter was gone".

As the allegations of violence came to light - including graphic photos of one ex-wife with facial bruising and a black eye and a haunting description of violence from a second ex-wife -the White House repeatedly claimed the background investigation needed for Porter's security clearance was ongoing as of last week when he resigned. Kelly himself offered an account last week that contradicted earlier White House timelines of Porter's resignation. "Earlier this month, we received some additional information and we passed that on as well", he said.

Meanwhile, President Trump sent Porter out the door with well wishes and tweets seeming to call into question the allegations against Porter and the #MeToo movement overall.

BOILING POINT: Syria Threatens ISRAEL with 'Surprise' Attacks
Israel believes that the IAF strikes in Syria took out almost half of Assad's air defenses, Israel's Haaretz reported Monday. Its two crew members survived with non-life-threatening injuries and parachuted to safety.

"But they had not made a final recommendation for adjudication to the White House because the process was still ongoing when Porter resigned", Sanders said.

"He hasn't said enough yet.In other words", Bernman said during the interview.

The timeline has raised questions about what White House Chief of Staff John Kelly knew, and when.

The testimony by Wray, though, appears to conflict with the narrative from the White House, which said the background check into Porter was not completed - and that was why there was no action against Porter despite allegations of abuse by his two ex-wives. Sherman reports that a source said Ivanka and Jared Kushner have been looking to have John Kelly replaced.

"I was shocked to hear about it", said Portman.

"I strongly agree with the president and condemn in the strongest terms the staggering number of leaks undermining the ability of our government to protect this country", Sessions said in August. He called for limits on the information made accessible to those with temporary clearances - a practice that is now not followed in the West Wing, an official said. The FBI director said Tuesday that every office he has visited has been "very gratifying and reassuring to me", and that he tells his agents to tune out the accusations: "I encourage our folks not to get too hung up on what I consider to be the noise on TV and social media". Hicks is one of the only original White House Staffers left remaining, so it will be interesting to see how the White House will approach her. Interim security clearances let officials start doing their jobs while waiting for full clearance.
