YouTube suspends ads on all Logan Paul videos

YouTube led by CEO Susan Wojcicki has been criticized for struggling to control offensive content on its service. Noam Galai FilmMagic for YouTube

Controversial YouTube star Logan Paul has not yet done enough to deserve a ban from the video site, its chief executive has said. So it's attention-grabbing to see YouTube including extra particulars and methods of sanctioning creators, that may hit at their very virality. "That reason was that I could take this experience, learn from it, and spread the message the right way about suicide prevention and suicide awareness", said Paul.

Creators channels can also lose the ability to serve ads, earn revenue, and may also be removed from the YouTube Partner Program.

Paul uploaded onto his YouTube channel was met with fiery condemnation from celebrities, fans, and vloggers.

"What you think is tasteless other people might not think is tasteless [so] we need to have consistent rules", Wojcicki said, explaining why Logan was allowed to keep his channel. Paul became the most talked about YouTuber earlier this year after uploading a disturbing and insensitive video on December 31 that showed the body of a man who recently committed suicide in Japan's Aokigahara forest.

The video appeared in YouTube's top trending videos section and initially featured the blurred-out body in the thumbnail.

One analyst estimated that Paul takes in $1.2 million per month in ad revenues from his channels.

The exec said that, within these YouTube Originals, the service was now "doing more with music", citing recent projects with USA stars Demi Lovato and Katy Perry.

That damage can have real-world consequences not only to users, but also to other creators, leading to missed creative opportunities, lost revenue and serious harm to your livelihoods.

In August, Facebook created a video service, called Watch, initially with shows from the likes of Vox and Discovery Communications Inc but with plans to let people submit shows as they do on Alphabet Inc's YouTube.

"In the past, we felt our responses to some of these situations were slow and didn't always address our broader community's concerns", wrote Ariel Bardin, VP or product management at YouTube, in the blog post.

YouTube has announced a new set of policies and penalties aimed at punishing the "egregious actions" of some YouTubers. As somber piano music plays in the background, he adds "I think this definitely marks a moment in YouTube history because I'm pretty sure this has never hopefully happened to anyone on YouTube ever". Its system of strikes used to enforce those guidelines also enables a channel's termination.
