Demi Lovato Celebrates 6 Years of Sobriety

Not Released

She wrote, "Just officially turned six years sober".

"The changes that I've seen in my mom: She's happier, and she's calmer", Demi added.

Lovato called Simply Complicated a "re-do" in a recent Billboard interview, and also got real about her ongoing struggle with addiction, revealing she nearly relapsed at the 2016 Met Gala after an undisclosed celebrity was a "complete bitch" to her.

The tweet received an outpouring of support and encouragement from fans, with many writing how "proud" they are of the star. At 18 years old, she punched a backup dancer during 2010's Camp Rock 2 Tour with the Jonas Brothers.

The singer's fans even created a celebratory hashtag, dubbed #CongratsOn6YearsDemi.

In October, Lovato released a personal documentary on YouTube detailing her road to sobriety.

Facebook's search predictions are created to reflect popular searches, but it's unclear why the offensive terms appeared. A Facebook survey also drew criticism last week, after it was deemed inappropriate by users.

Lovato, 25, has regularly spoken about her journey toward overcoming substance abuse and uses her own experiences to encourage fans struggling with the same thing. "I was not easy to work with". "I was scared because my mom always told me that your heart could just burst if you do it", Lovato said. That's when she sought treatment for the first time, but it wasn't successful. "I took on that role because I knew it was important".

On Thursday, Demi Lovato celebrated another impressive milestone-her six-year of sobriety.

"I had a Sprite bottle just filled with vodka and it was just nine in the morning and I was throwing up in the vehicle and this was just to get on a plane to go back to LA to the sober living house that I was staying at ..."

Her book takes a candid look at the struggle with fame and mental illness and what's possible with the love and support of family.

'I had a awful experience.

"Every day is a battle", she said at the event, according to People magazine. She also regularly advocates for issues regarding mental health, LGBTQ rights, women's rights and gun violence.
