Louisville Basketball: Cardinals likely punched NCAA Tournament ticket after Florida State victory

Lonnie Walker IV drives to the basket during the second half against Virginia at the Watsco Center

With the victory, the Cardinals advance to the quarterfinals of the ACC Tournament, where they will face the top seed of the tournament and No. 1 Virginia.

The Seminoles (20-11, 9-9 ACC) trailed 41-22 in the first half, but they outscored Louisville 52-41 in the final 20 minutes of play.

Louisville is now an 11-seed in Busting Brackets most recent Bracketology update, but with a loss likely could have found themselves on the outside looking in.

The No. 9 seed is now 11-9 all-time versus the No. 8 seed in ACC Tournament games. About noon Wednesday, Louisville was trending downward, having lost seven of its last 10, including the inexplicable last-second loss at home to #1 Virginia that seemed to foretell NIT and not NCAA as the program's postseason destination. The Seminoles had 11 as a team with Ike Obiagu coming away with four.

Florida State actually got off to a good start, aided by the Cardinals' lack of attention to detail.
