National Football League free agency rumors: Drew Brees staying with Saints

Are Saints in danger of losing Drew Brees to the... Vikings

In addition to landing the aforementioned Watkins and now Hitchens, the Chiefs previously parted ways with both quarterback Alex Smith and cornerback Marcus Peters.

Brees is set to officially become a free agent on Wednesday. And for the third consecutive year, the future Hall of Famer was willing to offer the Saints a bit of a "hometown discount" in terms of the length of his contract. But, from all indications, this may be a year to year deal. According to Mike Triplett of ESPN, shortly after Brees inked his new contract he made it clear that he would back the move to bring back Graham. In other words, they need to work out a deal and fast. That deal more or less drops Denver out of the race of Kirk Cousins, who remains the Jets' top free agent target.

"It was just a matter of coming together and making sure we got the right deal done", he said. There have already been several teams that have reached out to express their interest in his services, which includes potentially returning to the New Orleans Saints.

"I would love to find out a little more details on the deal". I think he's the best there is.

With Brees leading the offense since 2006, the Saints never have finished lower than sixth in total offense. For as swell as Case Keenum was in 2017, I don't think anyone would consider him elite. If not for the insane ending of their playoff loss to the Vikings, they would have been one step away from another Super Bowl. It's really no sweat for New Orleans, though.

The 11-time Pro Bowler has thrown for 4,000 or more yards every season he has been with the Saints.

Brees met with Saints management while in the building for Zach Strief's retirement.

Drew Brees said all along he meant to remain with the New Orleans Saints. "But the bottom line is, the real challenging part comes with once you've had success, how do you handle that success?"

Brees, who turned 39 in January, insisted all along that he wants to be a "Saint for life" and didn't plan to let any other teams in on a bidding war - even though had he done so, he possibly could have become the highest-paid player in National Football League history for the second time in his career.
