'Saturday Night Takeaway' cancelled following Ant McPartlin's arrest for 'drink-driving'

Ant McPartlin arrested after failing roadside breath test

Ant Mcpartlin's recovery appears to be spiralling downwards as reports reveal that he was arrested last week after crashing his vehicle while allegedly under the influence of alcohol. 'She was trying to get him to calm down.

He was reportedly arrested on Sunday after failing a roadside breathalyser test.

"I've spoken out because I think it's important that people ask for help if they're going through a rough time and get the proper treatment to help their recovery", he said of the problems that arose after a hard knee surgery two years previously.

"He has spoken with Dec and ITV today and asked for time off for the foreseeable future".

A Metropolitan Police spokeswoman said that he was "taken to a south London police station for questioning and has since been released under investigation" and that inquiries continue.

"Ant looked in a right state and was acting argumentatively toward a policewoman", he said. "I couldn't believe it when I saw who it was".

He returned to screens in November for I'm A Celebrity.

Fans of the star have also rallied round to support the fearless star as he announced he would be returning to rehab, after revealing to The Sun's weird column had spent a two-month stint there last summer for pain killer addiction.

It's possible the show could return with Dec and a guest presenter.

But with Saturday's show around the corner, fans have speculated over whether ITV bosses will decide to support him or whether Dec will go it alone this weekend or have substitute partner.

The past year has been a troubled one for the Newcastle native.

Another said: "Scarlett might step in".

When Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly won the "best presenters" category at the National Television Awards in January for the 17th consecutive time, McPartlin gave an emotional acceptance speech.

The pair have presented the ITV show since 2007 and following ITV's statement fans have rushed to Twitter to reveal their fears that he won't be well enough to take part.
