White House Expresses Optimism About Trump California Visit

US President Donald Trump is to meet video games company representatives on Thursday to discuss violent content

Donald Trump announced new stiff tariffs on U.S. steel and aluminum imports on Thursday (March 8), but left the door open for plenty of unilateral negotiations, in his trademark "make me a deal" style.

Some of those viewers have voiced strong opinions about the Trump administration's claim that there's a connection between violent games and violent acts, like last month's Florida school shooting.

"Why isn't Mario here?" says an imitation Trump, who is reminded that video game characters aren't real.

White House officials said the tariffs dispute contributed to Cohn's decision to leave but that it was not the sole reason. No reporters were allowed in the meeting. "During the same period of time, video games have steadily increased in popularity and use, exactly the opposite of what one would expect if there were a causal link". As of Friday morning, the video had 858 likes on YouTube compared to more than 24,000 dislikes. "Sure some of these are people who never supported him, but a good percentage are not", Nash wrote on Twitter.

Video game industry members attending today's meeting include ESRB President Pat Vance (who is in fact a woman even though the above image lists her as a man), ESA President Mike Gallagher, ZeniMax Media CEO Robert Altman and Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick.

The trade group officials and the video game publishing executives declined requests for interviews. But it found that 179,000 jobs would be lost, many in the service industry.

Blaming video games for gun violence has been a hard idea to squash and leaving out relevant research and scientists certainly won't help matters.

Democratic Sen. Dick Durbin of IL said Trump's action was "like dropping a bomb on a flea" and could carry "huge unintended consequences for American manufacturers who depend on imported materials". He didn't give any speeches.

Fine - whether you personally agree with it or not is not the issue.

"He asked a lot of questions and he raised concerns with the violent nature of these games and asked the question: Is this causing the kids to have (this) violent behavior?" said Rep. Vicky Hartzler, R-Mo.

The former real estate developer said US politicians had for years lamented the decline in the steel and aluminum industries but no one before him was willing to take action.

Both the American Psychological Association (APA) and the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) have taken a stance in recent years against children and teens playing gruesome video games.

Warning: This video contains extremely violent and disturbing images. According to the paper, Hollywood and particularly the television industry, is offering America's children a nightly blueprint, or dress rehearsal, for the violence that is committed in the nation's school halls with troubling frequency. It contains moments from M-rated games such as Wolfenstein, Fallout 4, Sniper Elite 3, and numerous Call of Duty titles, including the famous "No Russian" mission from Modern Warfare 2 that depicted a mass shooting of civilians at an airport. The courts ruled that was unconstitutional back in 2011.
