Lalit Modi

Only captain Ajinkya Rahane (36) looked fluent against the spinners after Karthik won the toss and opted to field first.

Kolkata Knight Riders: Dinesh Karthik (c and WK), Sunil Narine, Andre Russell, Chris Lynn, Robin Uthappa, Kuldeep Yadav, Piyush Chawla, Nitish Rana, Prasidh Krishna, Shivam Mavi, Mitchell Johnson, Shubman Gill, R Vinay Kumar, Rinku Singh, Cameron Delport, Javon Searless, Apoorv Wankhade, Ishank Jaggi and Tom Curran.

The duo put on an unbeaten 61-run stand for the forth wicket and Karthik finished the match in style by hitting a six to get his team over the line.

Kolkata now has six points from five matches and is joint leader with Sunrisers Hyderabad, which has won all its three games. Short started targeting Narine after getting into groove.

Rahane welcomed Narine in the next over hitting him for four consecutive boundaries as the over went for 18 runs. Uthappa finally perished two runs before completing his well-deserved fifty courtesy of an outstanding effort on the long-on boundary from Ben Stokes.

Puerto Rico hit by island-wide blackout seven months after Hurricane Maria
It is the first time since the Category 4 storm hit on 20 September that Puerto Rico has experienced a full island-wide blackout. Say this for Francisco Lindor: He clearly has a flair for the dramatic.

The victory was scripted by Kolkata's spinners who spun a web around the Royals batsmen to restrict them to 160/8 in 20 overs.

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) has crossed the 200 mark twice in four matches in this edition of the IPL -against Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore.

Narine made up for his bowling with a 35-run knock off 25 balls and shared 70-run stand with Uthappa after Lynn was clean bowled by off-spinner Krishnappa Gowtham (2-23) in the first over.

Jos Buttler played a good hand of 24 runs off 18 deliveries to help the home side reach a fighting total in the match in front of their home support. After six overs, RR were 48/0. First, Karthik effected a brilliant diving run out to get rid of the risky Rahane off Nitish Rana, breaking the 54-run opening wicket stand between him and Short. Joining him was Tom Curran, who wiped the lower order with two quick successions in two deliveries.

Both the teams have scored more than 200 runs in their last outings, turning out winners in their respective games. Rajasthan Royals will take on Kolkata Knight Riders at Jaipur today and the match promises to be an exciting one.
