Mustapha Bukar, Senator Representing Buhari's Senatorial District, Dies At 63

Ekweremadu's military invitation was very irresponsible

Senator Bukar, representing Katsina North senatorial district, President Muhammadu Buhari's constituency died at the age of 63 in the early hours of Wednesday at the Nizamiye Hospital, Abuja.

"We shall surely miss his vibrancy and progressive mindset". The late Bukar was forthright and gentle in all his dealings.

Senator Bukar, who represents Katsina North (Daura Zone) in the Senate, died around 10.am on Wednesday following an illness.

Mr. Bukar's death is coming less than a week after the deputy majority leader of the House of Representatives, Umar Jibril, died after a protracted illness.

The President, in a statement by the Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, described his death as a "great loss to Nigeria's democracy and the engineering profession". "I pray that the Almighty Allah, in his infinite grace, grants the dear and departed Senator a place among the righteous ones in Aljannah firdaus", the statement quoted him as saying.

It was learned that the APC senator returned to Nigeria in March after spending one month in the United Kingdom for medical treatment.

The President recalled that as a young engineer, the deceased used his ingenuity to proffer a lasting solution to the perennial water crisis in Katsina, working at different times as a General Manager of the Water Board, Director of National Water Rehabilitation Project and Director, Water Supply at the Federal Ministry of Water Resources.

NAN reports that dignitaries at the burial were Deputy Governor of Katsina state, Alhaji Manir Yakubu and Speaker of the House of Assembly, Alhaji Abubakar Kusada, who led members of the House.
