New York Rangers fire head coach Alain Vigneault after missing playoffs

Henrik Lundqvist and the Rangers miss the postseason for the first time since 2009-2010

The New York Rangers didn't waste any time in firing Alain Vigneault following their final game of the season.

The New York Rangers announced on Saturday night, just hours after their season ended, that they have fired head coach Alain Vigneault after five seasons with the team.

The Rangers will begin searching for his replacement immediately.

Vigneault boasted a a solid 226-147-37 record in five seasons with NY.

Kinder Morgan Inc Sentiment Worsening on Low Stock Potential
After $0.21 actual EPS reported by Kinder Morgan, Inc . for the previous quarter, Wall Street now forecasts 0.00% EPS growth. That is, if security is continuing higher in an uptrend, the amount of the protection should also increase and vice versa.

New York's front office decided in the middle of this season to go young, sell at the trade deadline and begin a rebuilding process in the hopes of becoming a title contender again. The Rangers are going in a different direction, I respect that and I wish them all the best.

"I think my staff is the right staff for this job", Vigneault said. Though Vigneault can only handle so much of the blame in what was a dismal season for the Rangers, this move was necessary for a team that's prepared for a rebuild. Before being fired, Vigneault made a passionate case to keep his job. "Our record, it's pretty good with younger and older players". He has a record of 648-435-98 as a head coach for Montreal, Vancouver and the Rangers and won the Jack Adams Award as Coach of the Year in 2007 with Vancouver. It was his second trip to the Cup Final; his Vancouver Canucks had lost in Game 7 in 2011.

It took until Game 82 but the National Hockey League finally has its first coaching casualty of the season.
