Saudi security forces shoot down toy drone in Riyadh

The Saudi Interior Ministry said in a statement that a system would be put in place to regulate the use of recreational drones.

The measure will be temporary until the issuance of the regulation, it added.

However, despite the ban, remote-controlled drones are still being imported and operated in the kingdom, due to a loose enforcement of the law.

Until the new guidelines are adopted, drone enthusiast must obtain police permission to fly their devices in "permitted sites" only, the ministry said. There was no immediate information about any injuries or damage.

Unconfirmed videos on social media appeared to show heavy volleys of gunfire in the neighbourhood, triggering speculation of a possible coup attempt.

12-year-old boy steals parents' credit card, flies to Bali alone
The youngster made it to Bali - checking into the hotel, telling staff his older sister would be arriving later. He used a self-service check in terminal and boarded a connecting flight to Perth and from there to Indonesia .

Saudi Arabia was finalising regulation for the use of recreational drones, state media said Sunday, after a drone sparked security alarm as it hovered close to royal palaces in Riyadh.

The authenticity of the videos could not be verified.

The 32-year old prince has also overseen a major military shake-up and royal purge as he consolidates power much beyond wielded by previous rulers. A senior Saudi official confirmed that no one was injured while drone was shot down and the king Salman was not in the palace.

"The king was at his farm in Diriya", the official said, naming another area of Riyadh. Three others were also wounded in the attack.

The decision to close down all-female wellness centres, led a group of Saudi women to launch during the same year, a campaign called "Let Her Get Fat", blaming the authorities for the lack of places to exercise outside the home since they can not use men's clubs.
