Sea Of Thieves Updates Detailed, Will Bring Free New Content

Rare says that the first content update for Sea of Thieves will be called The Hungering Deep, bringing a risky new AI threat to the seas that will force crews to work together.

Sea of Thieves biggest problem at the moment is a lack of content.

Rare has issued a roadmap detailing its upcoming plans for Sea of Thieves on Xbox One and PC. Once you and your crew enter the game you will choose between either a two-person sloop or a four-person galleon. But now Microsoft and the Rare studio want you to look to the game's development horizon and the promise of new quests, rewards, and mechanics that are awaiting you in future updates. "As we've always said, launch is just the start for Sea of Thieves, and we are going to grow and evolve the game with feedback from our community". Crew size isn't revealed, but my guess is that it will be a new ship for three-man crews as opposed to having an even larger ship for more players.

Rare is calling the first add-on The Hungering Deep, and it plans to roll out it out in early May. Those that take part in the event will be able to earn some unique rewards as well. A weekly events program will also be introduced in May, giving players new ways to play with weekly events and rewards. Rare announced Friday its content plans for the game through the rest of 2018 includes six free content updates plus weekly events. Quite unlike anything I have ever played, this latest offering from hallowed developers Rare feels it has captured perfectly the juvenile daydream of sailing the Seven Seas in search of bounty and adventure. Rare didn't go into any specifics but said that the update will introduce a new AI threat for pirates to tackle together as part of a new event, and will also bring new gameplay mechanics. Among other features, Cursed Sails will herald the arrival of a new ship type while Forsaken Shores, as evident by its name, will offer a "perilous new part of the world to explore".
