Seahawks Sign Janikowski to a 1-Year Deal

Sebastian Janikowski becomes the second kicker on the Seahawks roster

Sebastian Janikowski, whose booming kicks for the Raiders made him one of the NFL's most dominant kickers during the last two decades, has reportedly signed a one-year contract with the Seattle Seahawks.

Janikowski signed a free-agent deal with the Seattle Seahawks on Friday. He replaces Blair Walsh, who had an underwhelming year in 2017.

Janikowski will join former Jacksonville kicker Jason Myers in the competition to replace Blair Walsh, who was inconsistent in his one season as the Seahawks kicker past year. Janikowski, 40, has made 80.4 percent of his kicks during his career and holds the National Football League record with 55 field goals of 50 yards or longer.

Oakland Raiders kicker Sebastian Janikowski (11) watches the ball after booting a 35-yard field goal in the second half of an NFL football game against the Cleveland Browns, Sunday, Sept. 27, 2015, in Cleveland.

His 63-yard field goal at Denver in 2011 tied the National Football League record for longest field goal at the time, and Janikowski has made 80.4 percent of his field goal attempts (414 of 515) and 98.9 percent of his extra-point attempts.

The Seahawks also signed Jason Myers in the offseason, but Janikowski will likely have the advantage going into training camp. McKissic appeared in 13 games and had three touchdowns. Seattle also signed former Jaguars kicker Jason Myers, the only other kicker now on their roster, in January.
