What will move Sensex Nifty this week? Find out here

Mumbai: Indian shares gained for the ninth straight session on Tuesday with the Sensex rising almost 100 points after the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecast a normal monsoon for this year. Foreign institutional investors (FIIs) pulling out over Rs 308 crore and domestic institutional investors selling stocks worth Rs 28.97 crore in the Indian market on Monday also weakened sentiment.

The gauge has gained 1,286.36 points in the previous eight sessions.

Last week, the Sensex ended with third consecutive weekly gain by a solid 565.68 points to conclude at 34,192.65, while the broader Nifty reclaimed to close above the key 10,400-level at 10,480.60.

Hindalco (+2.9%), Power Grid (+2.6%), Tata Steel (+1.8%), M&M (+1.4%) and Vedanta (+1.3%) were the top gainers on the NSE.

Asian markets opened higher, tracking the overnight gains in the USA stocks. Hang Seng saw extended weakness for another day with the index falling over 2% yesterday.

Pharma and sub-indices rallied the most gaining 1.56 per cent and 1.05 per cent respectively.

The 30-share index was trading higher by 92.66 points (0.27 percent) 34398.09 with power, PSU, metal, infrastructure, capital goods, and infrastructure and auto sector stocks leading the trend. Shanghai Composite Index, however, fell 0.25 per cent.

Overnight, the Dow gained 0.87 percent and the S&P 500 rose 0.8 per cent on Monday, with the biggest boosts from technology and healthcare sectors as investors were optimistic about the earnings season and appeared less anxious about US-led missile attacks in Syria.
